Attractions: Sanctuary of Truth

Sanctuary of Truth

Sanctuary of Truth is a gigantic construction of a temple and consists entirely of carved wood. The wooden construction is 105 meters high and covers an area of over 2 rai, approximately 3,200 square feet. The project was started by an idea of the Thai businessman Lek Viriyaphant in 1981 and is scheduled for completion in 2025. The purpose of the structure is to use art and culture as a reflection of the old vision and knowledge of the earth, and Eastern philosophy. Visitors are supposed to gain insight into prehistoric life, human responsibility, basic thougths, circle of life, relationships with universe and common goals towards utopia.

The Sanctuary of Truth reminds of Khmer architecture where all the carvings are done by hand, similar to the imperial surroundings of Angkor. The structure has four towers representing images from the Buddhist and Hindu religions and mythologies of Cambodia, China, India and Thailand.

Upon arrival you buy a ticket and you will be transported by horse and cart to the structure. From here you can go on your own or you can go on a guided tour. According to the website of the organizer they have other offers on the site as a local dance, dolphin shows, elephant riding and more.

We have been here and would recommend anyone to take a trip to this special attraction.
